48 Campeón: For the Bold
Stroll any of the major boat shows and it’s easy to see what luxury center-consoles stand out amongst the crowd, not just for their style, but also the equipment and customization that allows HCB Yachts to radiate on the water. World renowned for building large, beautiful center-consoles that continually push the limits of boat design, HCB Yachts are at the high-end luxury part of the market and are often considered as tenders to larger motor yachts or sportfish, in addition to being a perfect main boat.
One of their newest models in the range, the HCB 48 Campeon, was first launched at the 2023 Fort Lauderdale International Boat show, and made such a splash that it seized the prize for “Best Innovation” at the 2024 Miami Boat Show. Built for the champions and with a name and finish to match, the Campeón is the boldest expression yet of this brand’s commitment to quality.

WHAT TO LOVE ABOUT THE 48 CAMPEON
Your daring side will love the hi-tech and much-celebrated helm on this model. Ultrawide Garmin display screens and a one-touch digital switching system represent a real gear-change in the world of boating electronics, while more conventional features include digital throttles, VHF radio, joystick handling and a steering wheel poised at the edge of a glossy teak helm pod. The helm is linked to four totemic 600HP Mercury V12 Verado outboard engines that dip down into the water at the touch of a button. As the motors kick into action the waters to aft will begin to foam and, before you know it, you’ll be racing beyond the 65mph mark to leave your less fortunate and less speedy peers in the slipstream. With 800 gallons in the fuel tank, and an efficient hull that encourages long-haul adventuring, you’ll enjoy multi-day voyages, and while navigating in the dusk, there’s an opportunity to flick on the vivid, multi-colored lights
WHAT OTHER FEATURES ARE IMPORTANT?
That bold approach begins with a range or fabrics and colors, ranging from tasteful tones like Steele Blue and Moonstone Grey through to more defiant choices like Caribbean Blue or Viper Red. Accents in chrome and platinum, sensuous sloping lines to stern and a flared bow to deflect spray give the Campeon an all-action look primed to slice open the waves and explore on your terms. At 47-foot from bow to stern, and with a broad beam of well over 13-foot, this is a vessel large enough to host a crew of compatriots looking to work the fish-rich feeding grounds. There’s also a brash approach to entertaining on deck with an integrated sound system and plush seating, not to mention an enterprising lower-deck space carved out of the high-performance hull that transforms this boat from high-energy day-tripper into a genuine weekend-long cruiser.
Exquisite place-making and attention to detail on deck leaves nothing to chance. A non-skid sole and padded coamings throughout are joined by well-placed steel grab-rails for safe and intuitive movement across a genuinely walk-around footprint. Fishermen on duty will enjoy an endless array of rod-holders in the teak-lined gunwale, along with elevated rocket-launchers, carbon-fiber Gemlux outrigger bases, a lift-gate to starboard as well as a transom gate out to a stern-side platform. In-deck and under-seat fish-boxes are joined by ice-boxes, two hefty sea-chests and a pair of plumbed transom livewells with a maximalist 55-gallon capacity and plexiglass viewing screens. There’s also a chunky bait-prep and tackle center in the
wide cockpit, which can be stocked with storage drawers and tackle trays as well as goodies like an outdoor grill, refrigeration and an ice-chipper.
Yet competitive angling is only half the story here. Impromptu transom seating with elevated backrests comes as standard, but if your guests prefer sipping cocktails to gutting fish then you can exchange the livewells for a diamond-stitched padded sofa back here, and switch out the bait-prep station for an aft-facing leather sofa with cup-holders and under-seat coolers. Head to the foredeck for more sociable seating, with a pair of decadent chaise-longues and a cozy twin daybed on offer, or assume your position under the floating T-top, where two flanks of custom-built piloting seats await.
Head below-deck to recharge your batteries. Down here there is a U-shaped sofa and dining table combo that can be swiftly turned into a double bed for the evening, while a galley dinette comes with a microwave oven and a hidden sink. Porthole windows, a wall-mounted HDTV and striped timber surrounds in your choice of lavish hardwood all feature prominently, while a private head compartment features a flush toilet and a ceramic bowl sink.
